Tenth state bans ranked-choice voting election scheme

On Tuesday, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry signed Senate Bill 101, which prohibits the use of ranked-choice voting (RCV) in local, state, and federal elections.
Jason Snead and Trent England are co-chairmen of the national Stop Ranked-Choice Voting Coalition. They thanked Louisiana legislators and Gov. Landry for making Louisiana the tenth state to ban RCV.
“By signing Senate Bill 101, Gov. Landry took a stand against far-left groups like FairVote and Unite America that have been pushing ranked-choice voting on the public. So far, 2024 has been a great year for election integrity and a terrible year for RCV.”- Jason Snead, co-chairman of the Stop RCV Coalition and Executive Director of the Honest Elections Project
“RCV is a terrible idea. It makes voting harder for everyone involved, from voters to poll workers to election officials. State legislators and governors have figured this out and are taking action to stop the spread of RCV. Thank you, Gov. Landry and Louisiana Legislators for standing up for voters."- Trent England, co-chairman of the Stop RCV Coalition and Executive Director of Save Our States
RCV advocates have claimed it is the hot new election reform sweeping the nation, but legislatures are banning—not enacting—the convoluted system. Ten states down, 40 to go.
